
Anier Velasco Sotomayor
Faculty Profile
Anier started in computer science by doing programming Olympiads in high school, during which he obtained a gold medal in the Cuban National Olympiad and a bronze medal in the Ibero-American Olympiad in Informatics.
He has a BSc. in Computer Science and Data Science from Harbour.Space University. His main professional interest is Machine Learning Theory Research, and he’s an independent researcher.
He worked as an intern backend developer at Leagues of Code and as an intern research engineer at Couture Technologies, a company that produces virtual fitting technology based on physics simulation and machine learning. His most recent position in the industry was as a Data Scientist at INNOVERA.AI, where he was responsible for creating data processing pipelines, doing data analysis on LLMs.
On the side, he’s a member of the Open Research Community Cohere for AI, where they regularly discuss papers on Machine learning, and contribute to open source research projects such as the multi-lingual Large Language Model Aya.
