Phil Balagtas

Phil Balagtas is a designer, strategist, and futurist who provides consultancy, advisory support, training, and leadership to help organisations map future visions and develop strategies towards desirable futures. He runs his own consultancy firm, HABITAT, and serves as a Senior Foresight Advisor for McKinsey & Co. He is also a professor at Elisava and other Spanish universities in Barcelona and Madrid.

Phil’s work includes leading and advising on government and public sector projects, training organisations in the complete Futures Toolkit, and supporting the implementation of long-term strategies and systems that embed a sustained futures culture and mindset throughout organisations.

He is the founder of the Design Futures Initiative—a non-profit, multi-city meetup community that hosts events and workshops on speculative design. He is also the author of the book Making Futures Work: Integrating Futures Thinking for Design, Innovation and Strategy, published by O’Reilly.
