Overview
Computer Vision (OpenCV) + Processing: using the camera as input.
We will work with OpenCV for Processing to bring a physical camera input of interaction in order to allow for control of objects on screen using processing. The instructor presents multiple methods to speed up production, and students participate in hands-on exercises and receive extensive one-on-one help. Our final project is a real-time, camera-driven animation.

This course is ideal for students looking to expand their control animations and processing skills, and those wanting to use a camera as the input source. We will work with Sublime Text 3 to edit code and HYPE Framework. Throughout the week, we explore efficient production techniques with a final project of a real-time, camera-driven animation.
Course outline
5 classes
Session 1
Connect several type of cameras to processing USB and ethernet POE style cameras. Install openCV library and pass camera content to it
Session 2
Work with openCV / startBackgroundSubtraction, findContours, getBoundingBox
Session 3
Work with colour and art assets to map into openCV
Session 4
Work on project, ask teacher questions
Session 5
Final presentation of your project. This is your grade. MOST times getting that job is how you talk and present the work you create
Prerequisites
This course is one of three in a wholistic series.
Students that have already taken MSL-111 and those with prior experience with HTML, CSS, and Javascript building simple web pages will be good candidates for this module.

Since 1995, Joshua Davis, an American designer, technologist, author and artist in new media, has made a career as an image maker using programming, he writes his own code, to produce interactions with users and to generate visual compositions according to rule-based, randomised processes.
Davis had a role in designing the visualisation of IBM’s Watson, the intelligent computer programme capable of answering questions, for the quiz show Jeopardy
